課程概述 |
課程簡介:
The major objective of this course is to provide students with an overview of the theoretical bases of the communicative approach to language teaching or as some researchers and practitioners prefer to call, the communicative language teaching (CLT).
With the convictions that teaching itself involves two-way communication, and that learners should be given opportunities to interpret, to express, and to negotiate meaning in real-life situations, this approach has become one of the mainstreams in the foreign language teaching profession for the past three decades.
Students will be led from theory to practice in due course as the following topics proceed:
1. Definitions and Interpretations of Communicative Competence/ Communicative Language Ability
2. The Theoretical and Pedagogical Issues
3. L2 Acquisition Research Designs
4. Learner Attitudes and Interests
5. Syllabus Design and Curriculum Development
Visiting to some high schools for real classroom observation will be arranged. The term project will be an evaluation of a lesson from on e of the English readers which are currently being used in high schools in Taiwan, based on what we will have learned from this course, the CLT.
